On our trip to Rome , we had to choose among many sites to see. Our choice was quickly made. The Colosseum, the fountain of trevi, the Vatican, the piazza di Spagna and the Palatin.

Our hotel, the Hotel President Best Western was situated not far from the colyseum which allowed us to go back and forth between the famous places and our accomodation. The nice tramway can be very useful.

The Colosseum is unavoidable. You can feel the weight of the past events. But you can also run into actors of the « famous » series CSI Miami ! The Colosseum was the largest amphitheatre of the Roman Empire and is considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture. Imagine, it could hold between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators.

The fountain of Trevi is a must. It is a huge fountain in the Trevi district in Rome, the heart of the town. Very popular place since Anita Ekberg walked in during the Federico Fellini's movie : La Dolce Vita. Please don't even try, you will have some problems ! But you can throw 2 coins into the fountain, one for a wish and the other to go back there one day.

Yet watch out, you must be really fast to take a picture because the place is crowded. We nevertheless managed to have our own photo in front of the fountain ! There are a lot of delicious restaurants in this area among which « The tavern » which I recommend.

The Vatican is absolutely a place to visit. We visited the museum of the vatican which is a succession of rooms, ended by the Chapel Sistine. Our daughter spent her time imagining what she could do in each room ! In the Chapel sistine, hear expert commentary through complimentary headsets and remain silent .« Silenzio » constantly repeats the guards ! Feast your eyes on the artwork of old masters like Michelangelo and Raphael. It took 4 years to Michelangelo to achieve this work of art.
A useful tip : skip the long lines by buying your tickets online beforehand.

The piazza di Spagna is one of the most touristic place. Located in the district of the chic boutiques with via Condotti, via del Corso, via Borgognona, via Frattina and via del Babuino…It's a beautiful place. You can even refill your bottle of water ! When you climb up the stairs next to the fountain and sit on the stairs, you can admire «The Eternal City».

Last but not least, The Palatin is a nice place to see vestiges. This old town drags you back into the past of Roma. There are so many stones, monuments and old streets to admire. Take a cap and a bottle of water in summer !

For those who love stones full of History, Roma is your town!
